Current Board of Directors:

Chairman: Murray Forsyth farms through a partnership in the Rothienorman area on farms which have been in the family for 3 generations. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 30 years experience in Aerospace and Oil & Gas industries and, has been managing the farm business since 2012. Smiddyburn Farms is a mixed farming enterprise with approximately 900 acres of arable cropping (OSR, Wheat and Barley), complemented by beef and lamb finishing.

Vice-Chairman: George Gray spent most of his working life as an engineer, with his company Newmech Services, but the farm has been in his family for the last three generations. He took over in 2005 and grows mainly seed crops, malting barley and wheat, OSR and winter barley.

Director: George Davidson’s family originally farmed at Bridge of Don, moving to Crichie Inverurie in 1976. He had worked on the farm since leaving school in 1978. He has lived on his farm at Inschfield with his family since 1992, farming both Crichie and Inschfield together. George has 800 acres of cereals, and a small herd of pedigree limousin cows.

Director: Iain Still has farmed at Strathray Farm since leaving school in 1979. Originally the farm was a dairy until 2008 when the farm switched to arable farming. Now he grows OSR, malting barley and winter wheat. Iain joined as a member of Aberdeen Grain in 2008 when there was a need for extra storage for the crops. He has been involved in a range of farming committees and was President of Echt Show in 2018/2019.

Managing Director: Bruce Ferguson is the Managing Director of Aberdeen Grain. He has extensive knowledge of the agricultural sector in Scotland after being brought up on a mixed farm in Perthshire and since then spending the past 35 years working within the arable supply chain. Bruce is currently Scottish General Manager for Frontier Agriculture.

Finance Director: Iain Gordon is the Finance Director of Aberdeen Grain. Iain is a qualified Chartered Accountant of over 30 years’ experience, and is the Partnership Chairman of EQ Accountants, based in their Forfar office. He works extensively with clients in the rural sector and has a particular specialism in advising agricultural co-operatives.
